How to Store Leather Goods Correctly
Shape, airflow, humidity and darkness. Four storage rules that prevent mould, creasing and colour damage.
A bag stored badly for a season can look worse than one carried daily for a year.
Stuff to hold shape
Acid-free tissue or a cloth pillow keeps bags from collapsing into permanent creases.
Breathe, do not seal
Cotton dust bags allow moisture to escape; plastic traps it and grows mould.
Control humidity
40–55% RH is the safe band. Below that leather dries; above it, mould begins.
Keep out of direct sun
UV fades dye unevenly, especially on one side of a shelved bag.
